Defined by innovation, bold colors and a sense of humor, we thrive on creating products that make it simple and fun to connect with friends and the outdoors.” One look at their website and it’s quickly apparent they take their product design seriously. Each product is designed to be functional, bold and stylish. It’s also quickly evident that they have a good sense of humor and enjoy having a good time with their “friends and the outdoors”—qualities that are valuable for any outdoor company to posses.
ALITE introduced the Monarch Chair in late 2009. The Monarch 
Chair is a camp chair that uses tent-design technology to create an ultra-lightweight, super-compact and sharp-looking chair that rivals any indoor seating options when it comes to comfort. And when something is so compact and lightweight, just 1.35 lbs., comfort could easily be compromised. However, this is NOT the case with the Monarch Chair. When I first saw images of the chair I was curious, but when I first sat in one I was pleasantly surprised. For such a small design the Monarch Chair gives superb support all the way up the back, (see photos) and it has the comfort of a hammock in a design 1/10 the size. I was surprised at how much it felt like a lounge chair, allowing you to really relax, stretch out and rock at will. Additionally it can also be used as fire-side chair to get close to the flames when trying to roast your smores at the campsite. Just adjust your balance and weight and the Monarch Chair can easily be used to balance while you lean forward to gain access to the flames, or just turn the chair 90 degrees and roast your marshmallows while you lounge. It can’t get better than that.
Outside Magazine called the Monarch Chair one of 2009’s “amazing, useful, gravity-defying gadgets that will revolutionize your life!” No doubt, with only two contact points on the ground the rubberized feet make it easy to find a suitable place to sit, even on rocky and uneven ground. Something so simple, yet functional could very well have been designed by NASA. The Monarch’s aluminum shock-cord chair frame resists rusting, and the heavy-duty rip-stop nylon sling can be easily cleaned by hand or in an average washing machine. It’s easy to assemble, and a snap to break down. The tent pole designed support poles are all connected to a center cross piece with elastic connections, line them up right and the chair almost assembles itself. When the poles are all connected, you simply slide them into the four slots on each corner and your done. I would recommend practicing the assembly once or twice away from others, as the last pole has a little tension built up when you put it in it’s place. (Observe how that happened to me in the setup video)

Checked out the Alite Design Website. I discovered the BOA LITE LEASH! So cool! Your dog doesn’t have to look stupid at the dog park anymore with grocery bags hanging off their leash!
