Serving up more Single Track: MTB Season here to stay.
Mountain bike season is no longer, just around the corner, although the three inches of snow that I scraped off my car yesterday morning would attest otherwise. Seriously when will the snow stop here? It even stuck around until the middle of the day! The warmer days now, however, make short work of any remaining efforts of Old Man Winter. Green hillsides and wildflowers can now readily be seen on most mountain sides. Last week I got a chance to hit a few mountain bike trails in Provo Canyon on my way home form work. I’ve passed them a number of times and finally got first hand experience at what they were all about. They are a network of mountain bike trails that you can mix and match for any length of ride you want. UtahMountainBiking.com describes one run as a 6 mile out and back ride, but again you can mix any number of trails while up there and climb as much as you’d like. There is an amazing network of trails that starts at the Provo River Parkway park, and climbs to the foothills of Mt. Timpanogos. Any amount of climbing you want with enjoyable downhills on some fast windy single track. I’ll be sure to come back for more in the near future.
Tip: In the summer come early, it gets hot.
Above a shot looking southeast. Numerous single tracks intersect up there.
One wrong move and your off and down the right side. Much worse in real life than in pictures.
Sweet, endless, fast, single track.
View looking south into Provo.
Looking north at Mt. Timpanogos. The whole mountain, and valleys where covered in snow yesterday.

Looking south. Lots of trails are exposed on the hillside, as you climb the brush gets thicker and will eventually turn into trees.

Another shot of Mt. Timp, and another view of the narrow single track on the descent. That trail gets much narrower as you go down. I wiped out at the bottom on a stupid narrow turn. Just glad it wasn’t while I was next to the cliff.
Map above shows the park to start at.
