Winter Boots: May be Needed Sooner Than You Think
There are records breaking HOT temperatures currently around the country. Los Angeles breaking 110 degrees in September, (the end of September, in the Fall!) But look at the calendar, today is October 1st, and it is inevitable that winter and snow flurries are not far off, and a need for warm footwear is hiking up.
A few things you need for winter boots are warmth, ability to keep snow out, traction, and water resistance, stuff that all these boots share.
Below, the women’s Columbia Winter Transit Mid Snow Boot, on the left, has a waterproof full-grain leather upper with faux fur lining and Non-marking Omni-Grip rubber compound outsole for optimal traction in the cold. On the right, Columbia’s Men’s Bugaboot XTM Omni-Tech winter boot, has a waterproof Nubuck and split suede leather upper and a dual-density Omni-Grip advanced traction rubber compound for optimal traction in winter conditions. Both will keep your feet dry and warm.
Below we have the Sorel Mens Full Tilt Snow Boots and on the left the Sorel womens Waterfall Snow Boot. Both offer seamed sealed waterproof construction. The Full Tilt features a built in gaiter to keep the snow out, and 400g Thinsulate insulation. The Waterfall also features 400g Thinsulate lining and is rated to -40 degrees.
Finally the Salomon Switch Winter Boot is constructed with waterproof oiled nubuck leather, and offers a more trekking oriented boot for winter. What boots have we left off the list for winter fun?
